Susan Tabor-Boesch, the teacher librarian from Wood River Middle School in Hailey, has been named the recipient of the 2012 Idaho Library Media Program. Susan was a sixth grade classroom teacher for ten years before becoming the media specialist eight years ago. She is a past president of the Idaho Library Association, a presenter at statewide conferences, a teacher of professional development, and a leader in her school community. She has created an outstanding library as evidenced by the letters of recommendation for this award. Her Principal states that she is “first and foremost a Teacher-Librarian”. Susan “has transformed the Media Center into the gravitational center of our entire school. It is a place where students congregate, cutting edge technology is available, interactive lessons are taught, and everyone feels welcome.”
Susan collaborates with staff to create lessons that incorporate the best in educational practice. She keeps her staff informed of new technological tools that they can use in their classrooms. She has developed a diverse collection that reflects the needs of the students at Wood River Middle School. She is respected by her school community.
Congratulations to Susan for creating a model library program.
